Tom Templeton is the Founder and Creative Director of Templeton Advantage, LLC, a company that provides governance and leadership services to individuals and organizations. Tom’s philosophy of leadership revolves around the importance of consistent mental, physical, and spiritual growth. To prioritize reading, fitness, and dedication to eternal principles for living is a challenge we all face, but these activities must become a part of any leader’s daily practice if one expects to truly live a life of service and abundance.
With over three decades of diverse professional experiences, Tom has designed a portfolio of services and strategies that will measurably drive results as long as clients resist the urge to maintain the status quo and, instead, pursue the highest standards of excellence.
Before starting Templeton Advantage, LLC, Tom spent 12 years serving as an aide to U.S. Representative George W. Gekas, eventually becoming District Director and coordinating constituent services in a five-county congressional district.
In 2003, Tom joined the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA). After six years with PSBA, he became the Assistant Executive Director for School Board and Management Services, a department responsible for delivering a series of governance services for school districts. Tom conducted leadership workshops and retreats, led executive searches, served on several statewide task forces, and wrote for the association's publications.
Tom is known for his intensity of effort, immediate access to clients, dynamic speaking skills, and the flexibility to build consensus amongst diverse personalities, philosophies of leadership, and points of view. With deep research, poignant strategies, and decades of accumulated knowledge, Tom effectively intertwines leadership principles with actionable strategies, infusing appropriate levity and an advanced understanding of workplace dynamics.
Driven by his passion for constant research into the best practices for personal and professional growth, Tom designs customized and impactful training and leadership programs and services. A former school board member, facilitator for the Dale Carnegie Course, and youth league athletic coach, Tom holds a bachelor’s degree from Millersville University, and an education certification from Penn State Harrisburg. Tom and his wife, Bonita (an esteemed and accomplished teacher with elite parent engagement skills) have two adult children, Ellie and Kate, both of whom graduated with honors from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.
